OTHER INFORMATION

All proceeds are donated to Lhasa Kungshon Language School (LKLS) in Lhasa, Tibet. Kungshon School desperately needs scholarships for 60 students who have been approved for classes but lack funding. Also 10 student computers and one instructional computer need to be replaced due to age and wear. Current enrollment at the school is 460 students in 4 areas of instruction. This award-winning educational center is widely recognized for excellence and its contributions to the people of Tibet.

The Lhasa Kungshon Language School established in 1988, by Mr. Lhobsang Pandan, performs a significant and innovative role in enhancing educational opportunities and job skills for young adult students, mostly ethnic Tibetans. The Kungshon School has educated over 15,000 part-time students in foreign language (English, Tibetan, Chinese, French, Japanese and German); 700 students in vocational areas, and 3,000 students in computer software usage. The school has provided 1,200 scholarships to students with disabilities and financial difficulties. Students pay only 35% of the tuition costs, rug sales provide the rest.

Rug sales support:
-Rural shepherds who produce the wool
-Lhasa women who weave the rugs
-Young adult students who receive job skills and education through the scholarship program

Photo of the new school building now completed (photo shows building while under construction). School building is in downtown Lhasa. This building will house additional classroom space and a retail rug store. We are currently working to fund a carpet weaving training for rural women entrepreneurs. At the end of training, each graduate will receive a loom and hand tools, to begin their own business. We are seeking to raise $12,000 for this training and supplies. Businesses or individuals are invited to make donations. Thanks!

Custom rugs are available up to 9 by 18 feet, priced at approximately $50 a square foot (includes shipping and customs fees)

Note: rug purchases are not tax-deductible. If you are interested in cash donations, I suggest three non-profit agencies that work inside Tibet. I have visited each of these facilites in Tibet, the offer excellent education programs for their students.
